10 Feminist Films for Women's History Month

Bend It Like Beckham

Easy A

The Invisible War

Legally Blonde

The Runaways

Whip It

* One of the greatest movies ever made, yes, but feminist?  Hells yeah -- the characters in the script were written as unisex roles that could be played by a man or a woman.  Sigourney Weaver, pretty much unknown in film, was cast as the lead -- but remember that audiences seeing this movie in theaters for the first time would have NO IDEA who was going to live or die.  Now that it's a huge franchise, we take it for granted that Ripley is the star, but imagine what a breakthrough this was in 1979.
