May 3, 5:30 p.m.: Holly Goldberg Sloan

Wow, I know -- you thought one author event in May was exciting! Well, guess what, we have TWO!

We are pleased to be hosting Holly Goldberg Sloan on Tuesday, May 3 in the Teen Room to discuss her debut young adult novel I'll Be There.

Raised by an unstable father who keeps the family on the move, 17-year-old Sam hasn’t been in a classroom since the second grade. Instead he stays focused on surviving, playing and listening to music when he can, and most importantly, protecting his younger brother Riddle. Sam is resigned to life on the edges of society – until he meets Emily Bell, and everything begins to change. As Emily draws Sam into her normal suburban life, Sam and Riddle find themselves welcomed into the Bells’ home. Faced with normalcy for the first time, they know it's too good to last. Through Emily’s family, friends, and chance encounters, Sam and Riddle’s lives are set on an entirely new path, effecting wider changes in their wake.

I'll Be There doesn't arrive on bookshelves until May 17. But you can get an advanced reader copy to read now, if you hustle on over to the Teen Room!
